Stay as the only pilot of his squadron who was able to complete his 40 missions and return home almost unscathed, and because I had the privilege to travel with Col. Stay and others to So. California on a "recruitment" trip at the request of Pres. Wilkinson, I wanted to find out all that I could about this man I so admired so that I might share the info with my book club. Thank you for this insightful review of h is amazing life. Afton Ririe

Re: Jesse Stay – No, it’s Not *My* Name!

Brother Stay,

I went to the book signing today in Newport Beach of "Unbroken: and got to meet Louis Zamperini.I got home and sat down to read it. When I got to page 84 and saw your grandfather's name I was shocked. I had not put the two together. In the late 90's and early 2000 your grandfather was our High Council Representitive to the 8th Ward in the Huntington Beachh Stake where I was a YSA Advisor. Having a love of WWII and great respect for Jess we talked often about his Air Force experiences. He even trusted me with his "book" that he had put together for the family detailing his war time experiences. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and spoke of all of you often. I was honored to know him. If you were not aware of "Unbroken" before talking about Jesse you might want to get a copy.

Steve Chauncey

Re: Jesse Stay – No, it’s Not *My* Name!

Thank you for those kind words. His older sister, Lorna, is my grandmother. Your grandfather was truly a great man and a wonderful example to everyone. My husband joined the church in Rosario, Argentina. I knew he served as a Mission president in South America, but never knew it was in my husbands area! You have an awesome name after one of the most awesome men I have ever met - even better that I'm actually related to him! Your family has truly been blessed by such a great and humble man. know he'll be missed by many. But now his real work begins!.

Re: Jesse Stay – No, it’s Not *My* Name!

What an amazing tribute to a great man! I've told you before but my mom and dad planned on naming me after Grandpa if I had been a boy. They were so upset when you were born two weeks before I was and your parents named you Jesse first! It is amazing to look over Grandpa's life and see all of the good that he did. You are lucky to bear his name and I'm sure it's a great reminder about what is truly important in life.

Re: Jesse Stay – No, it’s Not *My* Name!

Wow, he helped produce a lot of LDS classic films!
