Stay N' Alive: Improving the Twitter Web With SocialToo

Wow, I didn't realize the blacklist feature gathered data from across multiple accounts for intelligent flagging of spammers. Very cool.

I think it's great that you're releasing code for single-user use. What framework are you using for SocialToo code?

Sterling, the website is built on Perl's Catalyst framework. Thus far I've released the auto-follow script as open source (need to add in my recent updates still) - that can be found here:

Be sure to check out the link in the comments to patch Net::Twitter or it won't work!

Why not make the blacklist optional? 1/2 the people on Twitter who say they are getting spammed are just to lazy to click UnFollow so they complain about it. Personally I don't want something telling me what is or isn't spam (on Twitter that is). I also don't auto follow because I don't want to deal with real spam-bots. If you get spammed on Twitter it's 99% your fault for following them or not screening who you follow better.

Josh, there is no auto-dm blacklist, and all we are doing is creating a list
that we can let users choose. It's not even implemented yet. Yes, when it
is launched, users will be able to choose.
