I live in the uk, and using broadband, and do not use a router....i use my internet service for downloades, streaming vidoes and music, etc. My internet spead is not all as it should be.....it was today that on the english news, british broadband supliers must state what the speed connection exactly is, on each customers line. It is funny...(not really, just being sarcastic....)that they offer high speeds, but when you sign up, you dont get what you signed up for...it is a shame. I am getting the basic offer in the uk, which is 2Mb per second, but i dont seem to get that.....

Is the advice there any good? Is it reliable? Can one of you please check it out for, and add any other advice for me please.

Does this have an effect on a adsl setup as there is a router and it connects straight to the PC using a Lan cable ?? would be great because in SA we Don't get what we payed for at all i got a 512KB/s line and only get bout 52KB/s ....... really getting ripped ********

Please, promote this so Linksys and Comcast (and the other router and modem manufacturers) can know this is truly a problem. If you have an issue too and this fixes it, post it here!

I called Comcast and Linksys concerning this issue almost a year ago. I explained the Linksys router and modem can't be close together (discovered this after a few days of pondering) or you experience interference.

so..if line noise is the issue...what if you shielded the equipment from line noise rather than relocating it. Wonder if it would have the same results?

@marlon, I'm not sure if it works with DSL or not - in theory it should. Go to dslreports.com/speedtest, test your speed, then move your router far away from your DSL modem and run the speed test again. Let us know if you see a difference!

i dont know how to access this feature, how to speed up my internet connection, i use a dsl modem 256 kb/s, guess somebody will help me out

Since you share bandwidth in your neighborhood your speed will vary. I live in a neighborhood with a lot of Haitians, Jamaicans and African Americans. They would all rather have gold teeth, shiny grills, fat rims, do-wraps, and their blunts. I will take all of their bandwith as the Comcast tech said only two people are on my head-end. Lucky me. Average is 17-23 Mb/sec (2-3 MB/sec)

Wow! I just upgraded to an 8Mb/sec account. The speedtest that XMission (local to Utah) offers returns 24Mb/sec! I'm getting close to 1Mb/sec upstream now too! This is freakin' awesome!
